Elegy In Memoriam Samuel Barber

A piece written to commemorate Barber’s death in 1981. Sainsbury had hoped to meet the American composer on the occasion of his last visit to the UK in 1980, but this was not to be, due to Barber’s declining health. Lionel recorded the piece during sessions for his solo piano albums; the recording is available on request.
