Nocturne Op.18

First performed by the composer at a private concert for the Voices Foundation at Earls Court Square, London in 1999. It is included on Lionel’s piano album Andalusian Fantasy (Navona Records NV5999). In the words of Jeremy Nicholas’s liner notes it “rises to a passionate, increasingly dissonant climax, making expansive use of the keyboard in a manner reminiscent of Rachmaninov”.
